Center for Joint Replacement

Patients at Saint Francis Medical Center's Center for Joint Replacement are able to prepare for and recover from total joint replacement in a whole new way. Located in the Thomas G. Otto, MD, Orthopaedic Institute at Saint Francis, the Center for Joint Replacement offers unprecedented total joint care and an outstanding patient experience.

The patient experience at the Center for Joint Replacement is very different from other facilities. At the Center for Joint Replacement, patients are not treated as "sick" but as healthy adults undergoing a procedure that will allow them to return to an active life.

Patient benefits at the Center for Joint Replacement are unsurpassed by any other program in the region and include:

  • An outstanding, holistic experience throughout the entire process
  • Comprehensive education that starts before patients meet with their surgeon (during community education seminars). Education continues through a presurgery class, postoperative therapy, a discharge class and return home. This extensive education ensures patients and their loved ones know exactly what to expect during the entire process
  • Families and loved ones involved throughout the entire process: during preoperative education and through rehabilitation, acting as the patient's personal "coach"
  • Completion of rehabilitation and eating meals both individually and in a group setting, encouraging and motivating patients to reach their full potential as they recover
  • Ongoing communication from the Medical Center from presurgery, through the patient's stay and after the return home. These materials keep them informed about next steps, daily schedules and other information, so patients know what to expect at each stage of the process
