Talented Vascular Surgeon Joins Saint Francis
Saint Francis Medical Center proudly welcomes its newest physician to the Medical Staff, board certified and fellowship-trained vascular surgeon William Tung, MD. He joins the experienced surgeons at Cape Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, Edward M. Bender, MD, FACS; Bruce A. Jones, MD; and John C. Wiggans, MD, FACS, in providing the region with the best cardiovascular interventions possible.
Tung's extensive training and experience complement Saint Francis' strong vascular program, which uses state-of-the-art technology to detect and treat vascular diseases. Offering comprehensive vascular services, Tung takes time to understand each patient's individual needs. He helps patients decide whether surgery is appropriate for their situation and proceeds with great care to minimize complications and speed recovery.
Tung earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md. He completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis. He also served as a research fellow at Washington University Medical Center, investigating genetics involved in thyroid cancer and in abdominal aortic aneurysms. In his free time, Tung enjoys participating in local activities with his wife and their three daughters.
