AAA Screenings

Come to Saint Francis Medical Center's Heart Institution to determine your risk for an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). A thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon on staff at the Heart Institute will be on hand to oversee the screening. The screening is a brief, noninvasive scan to determine the presence of an AAA, an enlargement, or aneurysm, in the lining of the main artery leading from the heart to the lower abdomen. If left untreated, an AAA can potentially tear or rupture. People age 55 or older are at increased risk of developing this serious and potentially fatal problem. Other factors putting individuals at risk include smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, hardening of the arteries and family history of AAA.

Location: Saint Francis Medical Center's Heart Institute

Cost: $35

Registration: For more information on the screening or to schedule an appointment, call Cape Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery at 573-331-3155.
