Saint Francis Healthcare System’s Auxiliary held their annual Volunteer Christmas Breakfast at the Drury Plaza Conference Center in Cape Girardeau on December 3. Numerous volunteers were in attendance, as well as members of the Saint Francis Executive Team, Friends of Saint Francis Board members and Saint Francis Foundation board members.
“We consider our volunteers frontline colleagues and part of the Saint Francis Foundation team. We greatly appreciate everything they do to faithfully serve our patients and visitors, help raise funds, advocate and support our mission,” said Saint Francis Foundation Executive Director, Stacy Huff.
Saint Francis recognized Betty DeBrock as Auxilian of the Year and Barbara Limbaugh as Volunteer of the Year. The awards are based on years of service and hours volunteered.
During the breakfast, the Auxilians presented a check for $50,000 to Saint Francis Foundation toward the Sister Esther fund. Created by Saint Francis Auxiliary in 1978, the fund assists Saint Francis patients and their families in need with transportation, clothing, food, lodging, necessary medications and medical equipment to assist in patient recovery as they transition home. The fund honors the late Sister Mary Esther Coffey, a longtime Saint Francis nurse who dedicated her life to giving comfort and hope to patients.
