Last month, Saint Francis Foundation helped provide a safe place of refuge for Doris Chitwood, an 86-year-old widow living in the home her husband built for them in Poplar Bluff.
Doris is a Saint Francis patient who received cardiac care last year and, most recently, orthopedic treatment after a fall. During a meeting with her case manager, Doris shared her deck at home had become hazardous and unusable. The case manager reached out to the Foundation to see if assistance was available.
With the help of maintenance staff from Saint Francis Clinic Poplar Bluff and Foundation Board member, Tucker Davis, materials and labor were provided to tear off and rebuild a new deck.
Doris shared, “I appreciate it so much! Those guys worked so hard in the heat.”
Doris is on the mend and plans to return to work at Butler County In-Home where she provides her own healing ministry “spoiling” clients while performing household tasks.
“Saint Francis Foundation is blessed to have helped improve Doris’s quality of life and provide a safe retreat as she heals,” said Stacy Huff, Executive Director of Saint Francis Foundation. “This act of service speaks to our Mission of providing a ministry of healing, wellness, quality and love inspired by our faith in Jesus Christ.”
